HIGH TAXES

HIGH TAXES: From online classes and banking to communication and remote work, almost every aspect of modern life now depends on mobile technology. However, the increasing taxes on mobile phones have made many devices extremely expensive and unaffordable for the middle class. In many cases, the taxes add up to amounts that nearly equal the actual price of the phone. As a result, many people are forced to use outdated devices or continue to rely on illegal and unregistered phones. A balanced taxation policy should be introduced in which reasonable taxes are applied, especially on devices commonly used by students and working individuals.

INADEQUATE HEALTHCARE: There is a critical shortage of specialist doctors in Turbat and the healthcare services are inadequate for patients. Due to lack of proper medical facilities, patients have to travel to Karachi for treatment. Poor people suffer the most because of travel expenses. Sick, especially those in a critical condition, face pain, stress and financial burden during the journey. In emergency cases, these delays become dangerous and sometimes lead to the loss of precious lives. The government should upgrade hospitals in Turbat by providing proper medical facilities, modern equipment and experienced doctors.

DOMINO EFFECT: Solband, a remote village in Balochistan, has been facing severe water and energy crises for long, with electricity available for only four to six hours a day. Indeed, it is not rare for the supply to remain discontinued for several days or even weeks. Power disruption simultaneously leads to water scarcity. It is a domino effect; a series of unfolding hardships. Unfortunately, women and children walk miles to fetch water. Children drop out of school. Daily exhaustion causes health issues. This continues even when temperatures exceed 45°C. The government should at least set up solar-powered water pumps in the area.
