Three die in bus-truck collision

TOBA TEK SINGH: Three persons, including a minor girl, died and several others were injured, three of them seriously, in a head-on collision between a bus and a mini-truck on Toba Road at Gojra on Sunday night.

Rescue 1122 officials say that the bus was going to Gojra from Toba Tek Singh, when it collided head-on with a mini-truck coming from the opposite direction near Chak 301 JB.

As a result, mini-truck driver Naveed Sajjad (48), a passenger, Parvez (35) and his 15-year-old daughter Javeria, residents of Chak 369 TDA, Chobara, Layyah district, died on the spot and several other bus passengers were seriously injured.

A Rescue 1122 team shifted the three critically injured passengers to Gojra THQ Hospital, while those with minor injuries were provided first aid on the spot. The bus driver managed to escape, while the bus was impounded by the police.

drowns: A six-year-old boy, who had come to attend a wedding ceremony with his father, fell into a canal and drowned in Gojra on Sunday.

As per details, Sadaqat Ali of Chak 348 JB Maqboolpur, was attending a wedding ceremony along with his family at a marriage hall located on the Bypass Road when his son Daniyal suddenly went out of the hall and slipped into a canal passing in front of the hall.

Locals pulled him out of the canal in an unconscious state and he was shifted to the Gojra THQ hospital where he could not be revived. Meanwhile, a young female factory worker died after she was hit by a milk van on the Samundri Road in Faisalabad on Sunday evening.

Police said deceased Neelum Basharat (30) was on her way home from work and was crossing the road near Harisingh Wala stop when a speeding van ran her over. She succumbed to her injuries when she was being shifted to the Allied Hospital.

KILLED: A young man died after a dispute broke out over placing a wooden plank on a water channel between two neighbours in Chak 65 GB of Jaranwala tehsil on Sunday.

Muhammad Ikram (22) was seriously injured and died after his opponent opened fire during the argument. His body was shifted to the Jaranwala THQ Hospital for autopsy.
