KARACHI: Armed robbers on Monday broke into the residence of a senior police officer in DHA and looted valuables, police said.

The incident took place in the Phase VIII flat of SSP Irfan Samo late at night.

South SSP Syed Asad Raza has said that Mr Samo’s brother and nephew were present in the apartment when the suspects entered at gunpoint and allegedly held the family members hostage. They fled with laptops, mobile phones and other valuables.

A case has been registered at the Sahil Police Station on the complaint of Mr Samo’s brother.

Police officials said investigators had obtained important leads and evidence regarding the suspects involved in the incident and expressed confidence that they would be arrested soon.
