Man shot dead ‘by relatives’

HYDERABAD: A young man was shot dead and his brother injured during a heated argument with their relatives in Nusrat Colony, falling within the jurisdiction of the Hali Road police station, on Saturday night.

The deceased was identified as Asad Yousufzai, His brother, Shahzaib received injuries from the strokes of a pistol butt, Hali Road SHO Farooq Rahpoto said.

Sharing details of the incident, the police officer said that Asad’s sister had married to her first cousin, Mr Riaz. She had returned to her parent’s house over some domestic issues with her husband. He said that mothers of Asad and Riaz are sisters.

According to the police, Riaz and his brothers, Shahzaib and Ayaz, visited Asad’s house in an effort to resolve the issues. While they were discussing the matter, a heated argument turned the situation unpleasant and Asad was fired upon. He died instantly. Shahzaib was also attacked with a pistol butt and injured.

The assailants fled the area, the SHO said, adding that an FIR was yet to be registered.
