As a business owner with both restaurants and retail shops in Islamabad, I write to express both concern and support in response to the recent decision by the Capital Administration to close shops and markets by 10 p.m. We recognize the immense pressure the government is under in light of global developments particularly the ongoing Iran-U.S. tensions and soaring fuel prices—and we stand united in the nation’s effort to navigate these challenging times. However, we must also highlight the real and immediate impact these closures have on small businesses—jobs at risk, livelihoods threatened, and a ripple effect on the supply chain. We urge the authorities to consider a balanced approach, ensuring safety while minimizing economic harm. We remain hopeful that, together, we can find a way to uphold both public safety and economic stability.

Closure of markets at 8pm is a positive step,it reduces crime rate and people get time to sit with their family members.
