
KARACHI: While Karachi experiences hot and humid conditions, temperatures continue to soar to 50 degrees Celsius and above in several cities of Sindh amid a heatwave.
Dadu and Jacobabad continued to be the hottest places across the country with 51°C.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said the maximum temperature recorded in Karachi on Saturday was 37°C. However, at 2pm, the feel-like temperature was 48.7°C with 61 per cent relative humidity.
It said relative humidity remained high with 68pc and 79pc in the evening and morning, respectively.
“Hot and humid conditions are expected to remain intense till June 2, though there could be drizzle due to the sea breeze helping formation of some cloudy mass,” said Chief Meteorologist Ameer Hyder Laghari.
According to the PMD, maximum temperature recorded in Nawabshah and Mohenjo Daro was 50°C, followed by 48°C in Sukkur, 45°C in Hyderabad and 42°C in Mithi.
On Thursday, a new maximum temperature record was set in Dadu when maximum temperature surged to 51.5°C. Previously, the highest temperature recorded in Dadu was 51.4°C on May 18, 2016, the PMD said.
