Two fall victim to ‘honour killing’

TOBA TEK SINGH: A woman and a man were killed in separate incidents of ‘honour killing’.

A man slaughtered to death his married daughter at Chak 734-GB of tehsil Pirmahal.

Police said Rukhsana Parveen, wife of Muhammad Arshad, had left home with a man of her village 20 days ago. Her father Zawar Hussain brought her back home through a Panchayat. She was asleep at her parents’ house when her father killed her with a chopper and escaped.

Bhussi Police were conducting raids to arrest the suspect.

Meanwhile in Tea Chowk at Mian Channu in Khanewal district, a young, man belonged to Charsadda (KP), was murdered by unidentified persons.

Rescue 1122 and police said that Usman Hazrat (26) had fled to Mian Channu after contracting a court marriage with a girl who also belonged to Charsada and it is believed that girl’s relatives attacked him after tracing and chasing him. The attackers killed him with gunshots.

Sources claimed that the attackers also shot the girl; however, this could not be confirmed.

ROOF COLLAPSE: Three persons were critically injured after roof of a veranda of an outhouse caved in in Tailanwala village on Warburton Road in Nankana Sahib district.

Rescue 1122 officials said the roof was in a dilapidated condition. Rescuers removed debris, rescued them and shifted them to Nankana Sahib DHQ Hospital.

The injured were identified as Muhammad Faizan (17), Muhammad Awais (35) and Sayem Ali (12).

DROWNING: A youth drowned while taking bath in the Upper Chenab Canal near village Nokhrian in Sheikhupura district. He was identified as Tasawar Ali (18) of Chak Mansoorabad.

Rescuers are trying to look for his body.

Two speeding motorcycles collided on Sargodha Road near Jhamke stop in Sheikhupura.

As a result, Afnan Shaukat (18) died on the spot while two others riders received multiple injuries. They were shifted to Sheikhupura DHQ Hospital and were identified as Qasim Ashfaq (17) and his sister Fizza Ashfaq (18).

BURNT: One of the seven persons of a family who were burnt in a house fire due to gas leakage in Jhang’s Satellite Town a few days ago succumbed to her burns in a hospital in Lahore.

Sidra Irfan and all others wounded in fire were referred to Lahore due to the unavailability of a burn unit in Jhang’s DHQ Hospital. She was the sister-in-law of Jhang DHQ hospital’s dermatologist and district PMA general secretary Dr Muhammad Luqman. The condition of her husband, Muhammad Irfan, was also stated to be serious.

ARRESTED: Shahkot police in Nankana Sahib district arrested a man who had opened fire on the house of former PTI MPA from Shahkot Mian Muhammad Atif on May 21 in Mohallah Arainyawala.

Police said the suspect, Muhammad Jehanzaib, has confessed that he had opened fire due to personal grudge. Police recovered a pistol used in firing from his house.
