US Treasury chief says to halt Iran airlines' access to landing

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Thursday that the US is continuing its ‘Economic Fury’ campaign against Iran, highlighting the following measures:

  • Iran’s Persian Gulf Strait Authority has been sanctioned, with corporations and states warned against paying tolls or making aid payments.
  • The US Naval blockade has prevented Iranian crude from making it to the open seas.
  • The US is also shutting down Iranian airlines’ access to landing spots, refueling, and ticket sales.

“Only a satisfactory outcome in negotiations will end the downward spiral,” he warned.
