KARACHI, July 6: Sri Lankan Consul-General Manel De Silva has described Karachi as a peaceful and loving people’s city which, she said, will continue to refresh her memories for ever.

Manel said she was quite impressed by the fast development taking place here due to efforts of the nazim and the naib nazim while effective government measures had helped in establishing ideal law and order here.

“I myself go shopping to various markets without any protocol,” she said while talking to City Naib Nazim Nasreen Jalil during a farewell call on her.

Ms Jalil said that Haq Parast leadership was working day and night on mega-projects for the development of Karachi and these would soon be completed under the supervision of Nazim Mustafa Kamal.

The city government, she told the consul-general, was specially focussing on the health and education sectors while cultural and literary activities were also being promoted.—APP
