RAWALPINDI: Following the advisory issued by the National Counter Terrorism Authority (Nacta ) to all police chiefs across the country and intelligence agencies, the Rawalpindi district police have made security and traffic plan for 736 mosques, 62 Imambargahs and 60 open places with deployment of more than 3700 police personnel on Eid-Ul-Azha.
The police and intelligence agencies were advised that due to the ongoing security situation and prevailing threats of terrorism in the country, heightened security measures may be necessary during Eidul Azha and Youm-i-Takbeer.
“SFs/LAEs/CAFs are advised to take necessary pre-emptive precautionary measures to avoid any untoward situation especially during Eid holidays and observance of Youm-i-Takbeer in the country. Local communities are being engaged for taking collective responsibility,” the advisory said.
Following the advisory the Rawalpindi police have made a comprehensive security plan with deployment of more than 3,700 officers and personnel of Rawalpindi on Eidul Azha.
As part of the security plan security and traffic arrangements have been made for 736 mosques, 62 Imambargahs, 60 open spaces, as more than 1,000 officers will perform traffic duty to maintain traffic flow across the city.
More than 250 officers will be on duty at 25 special pickets across the city to prevent wheelie during Eid, 350 officers have been deployed at public places and parks, while 277 have been deployed at gravyards.
To protect the lives and property of citizens, a special patrol plan of police stations’ mobile phones and more than 43 special pickets have been deployed. Senior officers will be present in the field themselves and ensure effective supervision.
Along with the district police, the Elite Force, women police, Dolphin Force and the Muhafiz Squad will also perform their duties on Eidul Azha, the police spokesman said.
Police stations’ mobile and motorcycle squads will patrol their respective areas on the occasion of Eidul Azha. Foolproof security will be ensured on the occasion of Eidul Azha. Police said that all resources will be used to ensure the protection of public lives and property.
On the other hand, the city traffic police have established seven special squads to prevent wheelie and car skidding in the city.
Additional traffic police personnel have been deployed at mosques ahead of Eid prayers, a traffic spokesman said, adding that special arrangements have been made for traffic at parks and recreational areas.
Chief Traffic Officer Farhan Aslam said that the public will not face any traffic problems on Eidul Azha.
Security plan for capital
Meanwhile, the capital police chalked out a security plan for Eidul Azha. The plan included the security of worship places, congregations, markets, public places and cattle markets.
The police said all the Zonal Superintendents of the police were directed to remain in their respective areas. About 7,000 police personnel will perform duties during the celebrations.
Besides, 450 officials of Islamabad Traffic Police will also be deployed to ensure traffic flow across the city. Separate patrolling teams will also patrol at different areas of the capital.
CTD’s Quick Response Teams will be on alert to deal with any emergency situation. Special police squads will also be deployed at public place.
Safe City cameras will also be used to monitor the security of the city. Moreover, Police Khidmat Markaz F-6 and Diplomatic Enclave will remain open during Eid.
