• Authorities ban outlawed organisations from collecting sacrificial animal hides during Eid
• Security plan finalised for 54 major Eidgahs and mosques in Quetta
QUETTA: A high-level meeting chaired by Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti was held on Tuesday to review security measures, sanitation arrangements, disposal of sacrificial animal waste, and overall administrative preparations across the province for Eidul Azha.
The meeting was informed that banned organisations would not be allowed to collect hides of sacrificial animals anywhere in the province during Eidul Azha, and strict legal action would be taken against any violations.
Chief Minister Bugti directed the authorities to ensure that no compromise is made on law and order or the writ of the state.
Briefing the meeting, Quetta Metropolitan Corporation Administrator Zahid Khan Khilji said that the city had been divided into five zones for Eid operations, while 15 special collection points had been established for the disposal of sacrificial animal remains.
He said that around 4,294 tonnes of waste were expected to be generated across the city during the three days of Eid, adding that special arrangements had been finalised for its timely disposal.
The meeting was informed that 9,500 sanitation workers and heavy machinery had been kept ready for the cleanliness operation. Authorities in all divisional and district headquarters have also been directed to hire machinery as required to ensure the timely disposal of offal and waste.
The chief minister directed officials to ensure an effective, timely, and public-friendly cleanliness campaign, saying that visible improvement in arrangements should be seen in Quetta and other major cities.
The meeting also conducted a detailed review of security arrangements for Eidul Azha. Officials informed participants that Eid prayers would be offered at 54 major Eidgahs and mosques in Quetta, for which a comprehensive security plan had been finalised.
A special control room has also been established to monitor the security situation and will remain operational round the clock during the Eid holidays.
Officials of Safa Quetta informed the meeting that the organisation’s teams would collect sacrificial waste from 15 designated points in the city. A separate control room has also been set up to address public complaints and ensure prompt cleanliness operations.
Addressing the meeting, Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti directed authorities to intensify public awareness and media campaigns regarding the proper disposal of sacrificial waste and cleanliness during Eid.
He also instructed assistant commissioners to appeal to the public through mosque and Eidgah loudspeakers to cooperate with the sanitation campaign during Eidul Azha.
The chief minister further directed all divisional commissioners, DIGs, deputy commissioners, and DPOs to ensure effective coordination and implementation of all administrative measures.
He instructed the Inspector General of Police Balochistan to ensure foolproof security across the province, particularly at district headquarters, Eidgahs, and mosques, so that citizens could perform their religious duties in a peaceful environment.
