KARACHI: Suspected cocaine dealer Anmol Pinky is facing kidney-related health complications and the jail authorities want her to be inspected by a medical team inside the prison due to security concerns, officials said on Tuesday.

Talking to Dawn, South DIG Syed Asad Raza said: “We will recommend that she is not shifted to any hospital and her treatment is carried out in jail by medical practitioners.”

Earlier in the day, the jail superintendent requested that a medical team be deputed for Pinky after she was recommended for further evaluation following an initial medical examination at the prison clinic on May 23.

In an application, the jailer also added that according to her examination the suspect needed a gallbladder evaluation for kidney stones for which she may be sent to the Sindh Institute of Urology & Transplantation (SIUT).

However, the jail administration maintained that, given the prisoner’s “high-profile” status, transporting her to the hospital from jail premises may pose security challenges and potential untoward incidents.

The jailer concluded that Pinky cannot be moved due to “the extraordinary security risks attached with her movement”.

Last week, the alleged drug dealer was sent to jail on a 14-day judicial remand in multiple narcotics cases and a murder case.

Pinky was arrested earlier this month in Karachi in connection with two cases pertaining to the possession of narcotics and an unlicensed weapon. She had already been booked in multiple criminal cases prior to her arrest, taking the number of cases active against her to over a dozen.
