SUKKUR: Two youths were shot dead along a section of the Jacobabad-Shikarpur bypass within the jurisdiction of the Stuart Ganj police station on Tuesday.

The victims, Karim Bakhsh, son of Qadir Bakhsh Marfani, and Ahsan Marfani, son of Amanullah Marfani, were in their early 20s and residents of Agha Farm, located in Garhi Yasin taluka.

According to the area police, the youths were passing through the bypass when they were waylaid by some armed men in a targeted attack.

The assailants managed to flee the area after committing the crime, the police said.

The bodies were shifted to the RBUT Civil Hospital of Shikarpur for a postmortem examination.

The bereaved families told media personnel that the two youths had just arrived from Karachi by a passenger coach to celebrate the Eidul Azha.

The police linked the incident to an old dispute between the victims’ families and their rivals within the Marfani community.

A video clip uploaded on a social media platform showed a man, identifying himself as Altaf Ahmed Marfani, claiming the attack, saying that he and his associates avenged the earlier killing of his uncle two years ago.

Neither a case was registered nor was any suspect arrested till late in the evening.
