Woman shot dead in DI Khan

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A woman was killed by gunmen near Pusha Pul here the other day.

The police identified the deceased as Sughra Bibi, a resident of Bhakkar district in Punjab.

The attackers escaped after the incident.

Police teams reached the site soon after receiving information about the firing and collected evidence before launching an investigation into the killing.

Officials of Rescue 1122 shifted the body to the district headquarters teaching hospital here for postmortem.

Police said further legal proceedings were under way.

CANCER DIAGNOSIS: Doctors at an awareness session held here the other day called for creating public awareness about the causes of cancer and the importance of its early diagnosis.

The cancer awareness programme organised by the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre was held at Gomal University.

A good number of students and

the general public attended the

event.

Senior doctors from the Peshawar-based cancer hospital conducted sessions on the causes of cancer, preventive measures, early diagnosis and available treatment options.

Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy Dr Barkat Ali Khan, who attended the event as the chief guest, highlighted the importance of public awareness about the life-threatening disease.

The programme arrangements were supervised by Faisal Khan Zakori, while special hospitality arrangements were made for the visiting guests.

At the end, certificates were distributed among participants.
