TOBA TEK SINGH: Six persons died in two separate accidents in Jhang district late on Thursday night.
In the first accident, a car bound for Bhakkar from Lahore was parked on the roadside near the Bharari Adda in Athara Hazari tehsil when a speeding 22-wheeler trailer coming from behind ran over it. As a result, all five car riders were critically injured.
Rescue 1122 officials said that four of them succumbed to their injuries on the spot. They were identified as Ameer Alam (60), unidentified 40-year-old man and a 45-year-old man, and Imran Zulfiqar (20), and the injured as Essa Khan (40). The injured and the bodies of the four deceased were shifted to the Athara Hazari THQ Hospital.
Meanwhile near Adda Qaim Bharwana on the Shorkot-Multan Road, a speeding mini truck going from Multan to Chiniot rear-ended another mini truck bound for Azad Kashmir from Multan. As a result, two persons on the Chiniot-bound mini truck were crushed between the two vehicles.
Four die as trailer runs over a car
Rescuers, after cutting the steel bodies of the two vehicles, pulled them out but they had already died. They were identified as Muhammad Rizwan (35) and an unknown man of 25 years of age. Their bodies were shifted to the Shorkot THQ Hospital.
CONTRACTOR FINED: Commissioner Mussrat Jabeen imposed a fine of Rs100,000 on a contractor for poor cleanliness arrangements at the Tandlianwala THQ Hospital during a visit.
She also issued a warning to the hospital MS and ordered to improve the standards of cleanliness.
She chaired a meeting of revenue officers and expressed anger over not achieving the recovery targets in various areas. She told the officials that if the targets were not completed by June 30, a charge sheet would be issued to the concerned revenue officers. She ordered the AC to hold daily meetings with the revenue officers and complete the target.
