LAHORE: A model criminal court (minor offences) has convicted a husband for domestic violence and jailed him for three months.

The Manga Mandi Police had registered an FIR in 2022 on the complaint of Shagufta against her husband Zaman. The woman had said she married the accused three years ago and they had two children. She had alleged that her husband had been subjecting her to cruelty and oppression for quite some time and had on two occasions attempted to take her life.

The woman had alleged that on the day of the incident, her husband mercilessly beat her child and when she tried to stop him, he also started torturing her. She said the accused attempted to take her life and also kept her in illegal confinement throughout the day.

The husband denied the charges against him, saying the complainant in connivance with the police implicated him in a false case to settle a domestic grudge.

Judicial Magistrate Hamidul Rehman Nasir observed that the prosecution successfully proved the charge under Section 352 of the PPC against the accused. He sentenced the accused to three-month RI and imposed a fine of Rs1,500.
