SWABI: Protestors continued their sit-in at Pesco office against excessive load-shedding here on Tuesday.
According to sources two rounds of negotiations were held between the protesters and Pesco officials to end the sit-in but failed. The protesters, who have besieged the building of Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco), vowed to continue the sit-in till acceptance of their demand.
The protesters stayed in the building all the night and all kept locked all the offices.
The call of the protest against excessive loadshedding was given by Swabi Action Committee (SAC) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Jamaat-i-Islami (JI), Awami National Party (ANP) and Qaumi Watan Party (QWP).
A. contingent of police was also present in the Pesco building to prevent any violent action by the protesters. The SAC members have categorically stated that their protest would be peaceful and none of the leaders and workers would be allowed to create trouble or damage the public property.
DSP headquarters, Fazal Sher Khan said that despite the fact they were fully alert; they did not take action against the protesters and tried for an amicable settlement.
