LAHORE: The Chief Justice of Pakistan has been requested to restore hearing of a 2018 suo motu notice on drugs and shift the hearing of cases against alleged drug smuggler Anmol alias Pinky to the Supreme Court.
A written application filed by civil society activist Abdullah Malik to the chief justice says former chief justice Saqib Nisar had taken suo motu notice in 2018 regarding narcotics-related issues and the matter is still pending before the apex court.
The letter states that important evidence related to the narcotics issue could emerge in the case involving Pinky. It requests the chief justice to order that proceedings in the case be conducted before the Supreme Court.
The applicant expresses apprehension that influential mafia could try to eliminate Pinky, urging the authorities to provide her foolproof security.
