HYDERABAD: Police claimed to have arresting a suspect in the murder case of a PPP-SB activist, Kashif Kaimkhani alias Kashif Baghi, who was found dead in his flat in Qasimabad on March 13.

Hyderabad SSP Shahzeb Chachar told Dawn on Thursday that the suspect and nominated accused, Afaq, who was said to be dealing in real estate, was arrested from Islamabad a couple of days ago. He was brought to Hyderabad under a transit remand.

Afaq was produced before the Judicial Magistrate-VII who remanded him to police custody for four days. Waleed Farooqui, a prime suspect and friend of the deceased, was still at large. A case was lodged by Kashif’s brother Asif Kaimkhani against Waleed Farooqui and Afaq at Qasimabad police station.

The SSP claimed that two empties were also found from the scene of offence and they were being examined. He said that initial investigation also revealed that Kashif had also fired on his friend Waleed but he missed the target and Waleed returned the fire, killing Kashif on the spot.
