DERA MURAD JAMALI: Twelve people, including four women and two children, were injured after a heavy pre-monsoon spell accompanied by thunderstorms and hail lashed parts of Balochistan on Wednesday, causing widespread damage in and around Dera Murad Jamali.

The injured were shifted to government and private hospitals for treatment, according to reports.

Meanwhile, the torrential rain and thunderstorms broke the intensity of the ongoing heatwave. Rainfall was reported in Dera Bugti, Sui and other areas, while residents in parts of Bolan and Jhal Magsi also experienced relief as temperatures dropped.

Despite this relief, the storm caused extensive damage in Dera Murad Jamali, Manjhoti, Mir Hassan, Tambo, Balan, Shakh Sikandarabad, Notal and nearby areas, where several mud houses collapsed after their roofs and walls caved in.

Additionally, strong winds uprooted trees, knocked down signboards and damaged several electricity poles, raising fears of prolonged power outages in Dera Murad Jamali and adjoining areas.

Local administration officials and police teams visited affected areas to assess losses caused by the rain, storm and hail.
