ISLAMABAD: Outgoing Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Director General Mohammad Yasir Pirzada performed the groundbreaking of a new Riding Club at the Pakistan Sports Complex here on Wednesday, in a move officials said would boost equestrian sports.
Yasir, who has been repatriated to his parent department, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), said the club would offer modern training facilities for young riders.
A press release from the PSB also quoted him as appreciating the efforts of the Equestrian Federation of Pakistan to promote horse-riding culture and expand participation in Olympic equestrian disciplines nationwide.
Newly elected federation president Raja Zarrar Sajjad called the riding club a landmark development for the sport and for grooming young talent in the country.
Secretary of the Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) ministry, Mohiyuddin Ahmed Wani, has been given additional charge of the PSB director general’s post for three months.
