LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday suspended the sentence of PTI’s former MPA Junaid Afzal Sahi in a May 9 case.

A division bench headed by Justice Syed Shahbaz Ali Rizvi announced its reserved verdict on a petition seeking suspension of the sentence.

The bench also ordered the release of Sahi after suspending his three-year sentence awarded by a Faisalabad anti-terrorism court. He was convicted on charges of attacking an office of the premier intelligence agency in Faisalabad during the May 9 riots.

Separately, the bench dismissed a similar plea of Ms Firdous Rai, who had also sought suspension of her 10-year sentence.

The main appeals of both convicts against their conviction would remain pending before the court till a final decision.
