CHARSADDA: An Afghan national wanted in multiple cases, including murder and extortion, was killed in a police encounter here on Tuesday, an official said.

He said that the Parang police received a tip-off that a proclaimed offender, identified as Imtiaz, a resident of the Choti Pul area, and a permanent resident of Afghanistan, was present near the Kabul River Bridge on the motorway service road.

He said that a police party rushed to the spot, adding that the outlaw opened indiscriminate fire upon seeing the cops, prompting them to return the fire. The outlaw was killed in the ensuing exchange of fire.

The official said that the deceased was wanted in the murder case of a motorcycle trader, Asfandyar, who was killed on April 28, 2026. He was also involved in extortion.

The police recovered a pistol from his possession.

Meanwhile, unidentified assailants shot dead a married woman employed at the Government Training Centre for Sewing, Charsadda, the police said.

Bilal, a brother of the deceased and a resident of the Landi Arbab area of Peshawar, lodged an FIR with the police, stating that he was in Rawalpindi when he received information that his sister, a resident of the Bela Korona area here, had been shot dead near the Qazikhel area on the Mardan Road when she was returning home from the training centre.

He said that residents shifted the body to the District Headquarters Hospital, Charsadda.

The complainant alleged that his brother-in-law, Imtiaz Ali, along with relatives, Kamran and Zeeshan, were involved in the murder. He told the police that family disputes were the motive behind the killing.

The city police registered a case against the nominated suspects and started an investigation.
