KARACHI: Two men were gunned down by robbers in as many incidents on the outskirts of the metropolis on Tuesday, police said.

A man was shot dead and his brother wounded by muggers near New Subzi Mandi off the Superhighway.

Their relatives said the brothers were travelling in a Suzuki van and were on their way to the Subzi Mandi when armed robbers on a motorcycle attempted to loot them near Hingora Goth. As the victims put up resistance, the muggers opened fire and rode away.

As a result of firing, Saeedullah Khan, 25, was killed and his brother Wahid Khan, 23, wounded.

The deceased, father of two children, originally hailed from Bajaur.

In another incident, a factory worker was gunned down by robbers in Afghan Basti.

Gulshan-i-Maymar SHO Mohammed Ali Niazi said the victim, Sahib Khan, 40, was riding a motorcycle when armed pillion riders intercepted him. They attempted to snatch his cell phone and when he resisted, the robbers opened fire on him and fled.

He sustained two bullet wounds to his leg and was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.

Wounded citizen kills ‘robber’

A suspected robber was shot dead and another wounded by a citizen in Mehmoodabad on Tuesday evening.

Police said that two armed robbers attempted to loot a citizen, Jabir Shah, 40, at Chandni Chowk in Azam Basti. The suspects shot and injured the citizen, who in retaliatory firing killed one suspect and wounded his accomplice
