LAHORE: The Pakistan Hockey Federation’s national selection committee headed by Samiullah Khan shortlisted 20 players for an U-18 training camp besides including eight standby players after holding one-day trials on Monday.
The trials were held at the Naseer Bunda Stadium in Islamabad.
The camp is being held for the U-18 Asia Cup which will be staged in Kakamigahara, Japan from May 29 to June 6. The final Pakistan squad will be announced on May 21 for the event in which Aisam Haider will lead the team while Hasan Akbar will be his deputy.
Shortlisted players:
Goalkeepers: Ghulam Mustafa, Nauman.
Defenders: Aisam Haider (captain), Hasan Akbar (vice-captain), Aziz Ahmad.
Midfielders: Mohammad Asnan, Mohammad Zaman, Usman Ali, Muzammil Saeed, Shahidullah, Waqas Naeem.
Forwards: Abdullah Awan, Zonair, Rana Abdul Sami, Salman Yaseen, Adeel Afzal, Farhan Aslam, Yahya Najeeb, Mohammad Usman, Shoaib Sultan.
Standby players: Hamza Khalid (goalkeeper), Nauman Hanif, Hunain Noor, Usman Baig, Usman Asghar, Mohammad Zain, Arslan Siddique, Taimur Sheeraz.
