SWABI: Two people were killed and several others injured as heavy rain coupled with windstorm lashed various districts on Sunday, uprooting trees, disrupting power supply, and damaging crops, rescue officials and residents said.

They said a resident, Naeem Khan, died after being struck by lightning in Tarlandi.
Two people were also injured in the incident. They were taken to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.
In another incident of wall collapse in the Baja area, a woman was critically injured, but later succumbed to her injuries in the hospital. Another resident, Abuzar, was injured after a wall collapsed in Shewa village. He was shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.
Similarly, two people were injured after a huge billboard collapsed in Yar Hussain village due to a strong windstorm.
In Charsadda district, a windstorm and heavy rain disrupted normal life, causing damage to public and private properties, uprooting trees and disrupting electricity and communication systems.
According to residents, large signboards collapsed in several markets and on roads, while a government primary school building in the Gulabad area of Tangi tehsil also collapsed. However, no casualty was reported.
The storm also caused financial losses to people as a large number of solar panels and glass sheets were damaged in different localities. Standing crops were badly affected.
Several trees were uprooted in different areas, leading to road blockages. Power supply remained suspended in many localities, while communication systems were also badly affected, causing hardships for residents.
Witnesses said panic gripped citizens as dust storms and strong winds lashed the district for several hours. Rescue teams and district administration officials reached the affected areas and started relief activities.
In Bajaur, the rain coupled with a windstorm caused several road accidents, leaving six people injured.
Residents and Rescue 1122 officials said Khar, Lowi Mamund, and War Mamund tehsils were among the worst-affected areas, damaging wheat and vegetable crops.
According to a Rescue 1122 official, the rain and windstorm triggered multiple road accidents in different areas of Khar tehsil, leaving at least six people injured.
The injured were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital, Khar.
Windstorm also disrupted the power supply in several parts of the district, but turned the weather pleasant.
Meanwhile, power supply from over 150 feeders of Peshawar Electric Supply Company remained suspended on Sunday following heavy rains and a windstorm in different parts of the province.
A statement issued by Pesco said that power supply from 41 feeders remained suspended in the provincial capital, 21 in Mardan, 13 in Khyber, 53 in Swabi, while the supply remained suspended from 31 feeders in Swat.
The statement said that the Pesco staff was engaged in restoring the electric supply.
