HYDERABAD: Sindh Taraqqi-pasand Party (STP) Chairman Dr Qadir Magsi has announced that party activists are set to launch a new campaign, ‘Aao Sindh Sanwarein’, aimed at reopening the province’s closed schools.
Dr Magsi claimed that approximately 7,000 schools across Sindh currently remain closed, depriving thousands of children of education.
Presiding over a meeting of the party’s central committee on Friday, Dr Magsi stated that even in schools that remain operational, students are forced to study without basic furniture. He condemned the provincial administration, arguing that the government should be “ashamed” of its failure to provide even simple benches for schoolchildren.
Dr Magsi added that these conditions were precisely why the STP activists would persist in their campaign to see the province’s shuttered schools reopened. He announced that the party would engage directly with rural communities as part of a public mobilisation drive. Furthermore, he stated that efforts would be made to ensure the appointment of teaching staff by lobbying education department officials, warning that the STP was prepared to pursue legal action in the courts and hold public protests if necessary.
Dr Magsi emphasised the urgent need to accelerate the STP’s campaign, arguing that safeguarding future generations against the scourge of narcotics is a priority. He maintained that the youth of Sindh deserve significantly improved access to education and healthcare facilities. Furthermore, he levelled a serious allegation against the current administration, claiming that the narcotics trade continues to thrive under the direct patronage of the present rulers.
Dr Magsi stated that the STP would initiate formal correspondence with relevant institutions as part of its sustained campaign against the drugs trade. Expressing grave concern over the state of healthcare in Sindh, he noted that citizens are facing “tremendous difficulties” due to the virtual non-existence of facilities at the taluka and district-level hospitals.
