Trader gunned down in Lalamusa

GUJRAT: A 55-year-old trader and head of the local Pathan community was allegedly gunned down by five armed men at the Lunda Bazaar locality along the GT Road in the Lalamusa city on Thursday night.

As per reports, Zaheer Khan, a resident of Kaira village in the suburbs of Lalamusa, was present at his shop in the Lunda Bazaar when five armed suspects on two motorbikes allegedly opened fire. He died on the spot while the suspects managed to flee.

Police reached the spot and shifted the body to the hospital where doctors later conducted an autopsy and handed over the body to the heirs.

A team of Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) also collected evidence from the crime scene.

Police registered a case against five nominated suspects, including Sultan Aziz and Usman Khan, on the complaint of deceased’s nephew Naimat Khan and started investigations.

Funeral prayers for the deceased trader were offered at a local graveyard on Friday where senior PPP leader Qamar Zaman Kaira and other local leaders were also among the participants.
