KARACHI, July 3: A suspect was shot dead in an encounter in Lyari on Monday. According to the police, some bandits snatched a cell phone and Rs25,000 from a pedestrian. As he raised an alarm, a police party rushed to the spot.

An exchange of fire took place between bandits and the police, in which the bandit was killed on the spot. A pistol and a snatched cell phone and Rs25,000 cash were recovered from his possession.

KIDNAPPED: A businessman was kidnapped by unknown persons in Bahadurabad late on Sunday night.

Police said Abdul Ghaffar Zafrani had come to attend a Nikah ceremony at a mosque in Bahadurabad. When he was returning to his residence in DHA, he was kidnapped by unknown persons.

Police said the registration number of the car used by the kidnappers was noted down by victim’s driver.

However, it was allotted to some other vehicle.
