HARIPUR: Board of Directors of Water and Sanitation Services Company Haripur has assured residents of urban limits of Haripur that WSSC will provide improved sanitation and water supply services to them through a comprehensive water and sanitation plan.

The WSSC’s BoD met with its chairman Agha Shabbir Ahmad Awan in the chair here on Thursday. The meeting discussed in detail the matters related to the WSSC, water supply and sanitation in urban union councils of the city.

It was shared that the newly established WSSC will soon formally begin providing municipal services in urban areas as the recruitment process for professionally qualified staff was underway to ensure that water supply, sanitation and sewerage systems were managed effectively and in line with modern standards.

Speaking to participants, chairman Board Agha Shabbir Ahmad Awan reaffirmed the commitment to transform WSSC Haripur into an active, autonomous and public-friendly civic body that will play a key role in providing services to citizens in line with best practices.

He told the meeting that the hiring process for the positions of manager operations, assistant manager water supply and assistant manager sanitation was underway and several candidates were interviewed before the final selection.

Zafar ul Islam, board members Sheikh Abid Ali, Masood Akhtar, Tahira Yasmeen, Humeira Mahmood, Masood Ahmad Jan, Engineer Rehan Yousaf and Engineer Muhammad Khalil Akbar were among those who attended the meeting.

The idea of WSSC was conceptualised and formed by the KP government in 2017 to improve water, sanitation and solid waste management services in the city, similar to initiatives in other KP divisional headquarters.
