ISLAMABAD: Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has stressed the importance of maintaining institutional balance and adherence to constitutional and legal frameworks in order to ensure transparency in all matters of governance.

”Transparency is a fundamental principle of governance that fosters public trust, strengthens institutions, and supports informed decision-making,” the Senate chairman emphasised.

He expressed these views in a meeting with Chief Information Commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui at Parliament House here on Wednesday.

Chairman Senate welcomed the delegation and termed the interaction important for strengthening institutional coordination. Appreciating the role of the Commission, he stated that it is playing an important role in ensuring implementation of the right of access to information law, addressing public grievances, and promoting proactive disclosure by public bodies.

He expressed confidence that enhanced coordination, clarity in procedures, and effective implementation mechanisms will further strengthen the transparency regime and contribute to improved governance standards.

During the meeting, the Senate chairman observed that the completion of three years since the establishment of the Pakistan Information Commission marks a significant milestone.
