LAHORE: A Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) lineman of Kot Abdul Malik subdivision died while performing official duties.

The lineman, Obaidur Rehman, was critically injured and he was shifted to Wapda Hospital for treatment. However, he did not survive.

Expressing grief over the incident, union general secretary Khurshid Ahmed demanded that the deceased’s dues be paid immediately to his family to save them from financial hardship. He also called for immediate recruitment to address shortage of staff that was resulting in frequent fatal accidents.

Other union leaders, including Usama Tariq and Shafqat Javed Butt, demanded a formal inquiry into the incident to fix responsibility for the technical or administrative lapses that led to Rehman’s death.
