SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: A tribal elder here on Monday demanded a crackdown on the people involved in making “fake” official documents, including domiciles and national identity cards, saying the issue is leading to the denial of legal rights to residents.
During a news conference at the District Press Club in Wana here, Sulemankhel Qaumi Tehreek chief Sardar Nasir Khan claimed that the fake documents were made in Zarmelan and Gul Kach areas of Toi Khulla tehsil in the Lower South Waziristan district.
“An organised network is involved in the fraudulent activity,” he said.
Mr Khan said that obtaining official benefits through fake domiciles, identity cards and other documents was a grave offence, so the illegal practice should be checked. He also complained about “illegal” land occupation in the Zarmelan area and said that the land grabbing had become a serious issue for residents.
The movement’s leader urged authorities to immediately take action to address the issue.
“Protection of the rights of legitimate landowners is the responsibility of the state, so authorities should intervene and crack down on documents forgery and land encroachment to prevent unrest among communities,” he said.
