SIALKOT: One of the biggest processions in the history of Sialkot was taken out here this morning [May 2] when Miss Fatima Jinnah paid her first visit to this border city. The procession started from Allama Iqbal Chowk. She sat in a beautifully decorated car drawn by a white stallion. Slogans of Khatoon-e-Pakistan Zindabad rent the air. Thousands of citizens and villagers accompanied the procession to honour the distinguished guest. …

As the procession advanced, thousands of enthusiastic people followed her in surging waves. Every house top was crowded with spectators. Roses and other flowers were showered on Miss Fatima Jinnah’s car while passing through the beautifully decorated arches en route.

When she reached the house of late Allama Iqbal, the relatives of Dr Iqbal requested her to see his house. She was much pleased and went upstairs and saw the rooms where the Poet-Philosopher was born and where later he used to study. She was also presented an old English school text book in which the Poet had written with his own hand some blank verses and signed some pages.
