PESHAWAR: The Malaysian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Dato’ Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, has stated that Pakistan and Malaysia share deep-rooted friendly relations and both countries are making significant efforts toward economic development.

He expressed these views during his visit to the Chinese cultural centre, China Window, here.

Mr Mazlan toured various galleries at China Window, signed the Friendship Wall, and recorded his impressions in the guest book.

Speaking to the media on the occasion, he remarked that Pakistan is playing a very important role in the current international scenario, which has been widely appreciated across the world.

Mr Mazlan said, “The eyes of the world are focused on Pakistan, and I am confident that Pakistan is playing a significant role in easing tensions.”

He added that Peshawar is a peaceful city, and he was very pleased to visit here. He emphasised that Pakistan and Malaysia are close partners, connected through shared values, mutual respect, and strong people-to-people ties.

He further noted that bilateral relations between the two countries are steadily expanding across multiple sectors, including trade, education, tourism, and cultural exchanges.

Highlighting economic cooperation, the Malaysian high commissioner pointed out the vast opportunities available in sectors such as the halal food industry, agriculture, and green energy.

He reaffirmed that both countries are committed to enhancing trade volume and expanding investment opportunities.

He also underlined the importance of educational and media collaboration, stressing the need to strengthen institutional linkages to promote greater mutual understanding.

He appreciated the role of the media in fostering positive relations between Pakistan and Malaysia.

Referring to the historical and cultural connections between the two nations, he stated that Pakistan and Malaysia share similar perspectives on key regional and global issues, and their diplomatic relations continue to grow stronger over time.

Dato’ Azhar Mazlan described the Chinese cultural centre as a remarkable and unique symbol of Pak-China friendship in Peshawar.

He expressed confidence that countries in the region will continue their efforts to promote peace and stability.

They appealed to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police and the capital city police officer to provide security and ensure justice in the case.
