PESHAWAR: ‘Panic buttons’ have been installed at 68 locations across the provincial capital under the Safe City Project — a move to ensure timely response to citizens’ complaints.
A statement issued from the office of the provincial police chief on Wednesday said that the panic buttons were equipped with audio as well as video facilities to communicate and are directly connected to the safe city headquarters.
The statement said that the purpose behind the installation of the panic buttons was their use in emergency situations, and pressing the panic buttons would ensure police reached citizens without delay.
“It will ensure the safety of students, women and other citizens at crowded places,” the statement quoted the KP police chief Zulfiqar Hameed as saying, adding that such facilities would soon be launched in other cities as well.
