QUETTA: Over 90,000 acres of excess land has been resumed from Mr Mohammad Akbar Khan Bugti and Mr Khair Baksh Marri by Ba­­luchistan Land Commission under the Land Reforms Regulations 1972, official sources said … today [April 28]. According to these so­­urces Mr. Akbar Bugti was owning 96,945 ac­­res in Kohlu, Nasirabad, Multan, Sanghar and Nawabshah districts. Of this 89,699 acres of land was resumed for distribution among sitting tenants and other deserving landless far­m­­ers… . … Similarly excess land of 4,063 acr­es, out of 7,804 acres … possessed by Mr. Khair Bakhsh Marri in Kohlu … Sibi and Nasirabad has also been resumed. — Staff correspondent

[Meanwhile, as reported by news agencies from Islamabad,] President Daoud of Afgha­n­istan has in a message to Prime Minister Bhutto conveyed his heartfelt appreciation for the generous assistance offered by Pakis­tan to the victims of the recent natural disasters in various regions of Afghanistan. The message reads: “Excellency, on behalf of the Government and people of Afghanistan and myself, I wish to convey to your Excellency the Government and people of Pakistan our heartfelt appreciation for the generous assistance offered by Pakistan.”
