RAWALPINDI: Punjab Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Faisal Ayub Khokhar on Sunday asked for the installation of a solar energy system at the Liaquat Bagh Sports Complex and for improvements to the condition of the food street on Double Road.

He visited the Liaquat Bagh Sports Complex and reviewed the ongoing development work under the scheme ‘Rehabilitation of Liaquat Bagh Sports Complex’.

He also visited the existing facilities, including the swimming pool, and inspected their condition.

He directed that the solar system under installation be enhanced and aligned with the actual energy requirements of the swimming pool and the entire complex.

He also visited Rawalpindi Food Street, reviewed the overall arrangements, and issued necessary directions for improvement.

He directed the divisional sports officer, district sports officer, and tehsil sports officer to ensure that the agreement with the lessee of food street is executed immediately and signed without delay and that all outstanding arrears are recovered and deposited with the Punjab Sports Board.

Later, he visited Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium and inspected the site at the exit gate of Rawalpindi Food Street. The land is owned by the director general, Sports Punjab. The area was identified for the development of two padel courts. The proposal was granted verbal approval.

He further directed the PMU to immediately process the case and ensure formal approval of the project under a written ADP scheme without delay.
