U-TURN ON HIGHWAY: Due to the poor condition of the University Road, we often use Super Highway via Sohrab Goath to enter Malir Cantonment. This route is 10km longer than what it takes those using the University Road. In addition to a U-turn that already exists for those entering New Rizvia Society, the relevant authorities should arrange a U-turn on Super Highway in front of a petrol pump about half a kilometre ahead of the link road to provide safe entry to the link road heading towards Malir Cantonment.

UNEQUAL TREATMENT: During my recent visit to the office of the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) on Jinnah Avenue for an under-18 smart card, I noticed alarming inequality. I was given token number 78, but while waiting, I observed that numbers 80 and 81 were called first and received prompt service. They were treated politely, whereas others had to wait longer and face rude behaviour. It seems personal acquaintance may have influenced the service quality. If so, this was unfair to the general public. All citizens deserve equal treatment at government offices, and such practices undermine public trust. The relevant Nadra authorities must ensure transparency and fairness in its practices.

MEDICAL STUDIES: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has set an upper limit of Rs1.8 million per year for MBBS tuition fee at private medical colleges across Pakistan. However, in Karachi, several private medical institutions continue to charge fee as high as Rs3 million annually, a staggering Rs1.2 million above the prescribed ceiling. Over the five-year duration of an MBBS programme, this translates into an excess burden of nearly Rs6 million per student. For many families, this is not just a finan-cial inconvenience; it is a life-altering strain. It is imperative that the PMDC take immediate corrective action to ensure compliance across all private medical colleges in Karachi and beyond.
