HYDERABAD: Hatri police have obtained the remand of the man whose double cabin vehicle had overran three persons in Hala Naka on Tuesday.

He was remanded in police custody on Thursday by the Judicial Magistrate-II for three days. Police have also obtained a seven-day remand of eight suspects involved in rioting with police, from the Anti-Terrorism Court.

Police have lodged two separate FIRs. One case was lodged by Abdul Rasheed, a government employee, vide Crime No. 118/26 in the wake of death of his nephew Ashfaq Solangi under Sections 322, 320, 279, 427, 337-G PPC.

Rasheed said that his relative Ahsan Solangi informed him that Ashfaq was riding his motorcycle when the occupant of a speeding black double cabin vehicle hit Ashfaq and other vehicles near Malik filling station.

He said that when he rushed to the spot, he found Ashfaq dead on the road. His body was shifted to Liaquat University Hospital (LUH) City branch. He said that Hatri police had brought two other bodies, identified as Ahsan Panhwar and Rahul, to the hospital as well for a post-mortem. Six injured were also shifted to the LUH.

The second case was lodged by Sub-Inspector Munir Ahmed Mangrio of Hatri police station under Sections 324, 506, 504, 147, 148, 149, 143, 35, 427, 120/B-341, 353 PPC and 6/7 of Anti-Terrorism Act against 22 nominated accused who were involved in rioting with police following a road accident in Hala Naka area. A police party rushed to the area following information about a road accident near Malik filling station.

He said the occupant of the double cabin (AFR-2026) was identified as Zar Nawaz Khan, son of Faujdar Khan. A mob gathered there to seize with the intent of lynching him, but the police initially moved him to a shop for safety before shifting him to an undisclosed location.

In the meantime, the miscreants torched his vehicle. They also resorted to firing on police, according to the FIR. The SHO called for reinforcement of police after seeing a violent mob. Police identified 22 of the miscreants whose names were mentioned in the FIR.

Eight suspects arrested by police were identified as Ghulam Abbas Keerio, Amir Ghachal, Wasim Khoso, Wali Mohammad Chandio, Irshad Kalhoro, Hasnain Jhatial, Amjad Ali Pirzado and Zamir Khoso. The ATC judge remanded them to police custody for seven days.
