KARACHI: Two persons were killed and four others wounded in an attack on their house in Gulshan-i-Maymar on Sunday, police and hospital officials said.

SITE-Superhighway Industrial Area SHO Mohammad Nawaz said an exchange of inappropriate words took place among relatives during a wedding ceremony in Dhani Bux Goth late on Saturday night. However, they were ostensibly pacified after the intervention of guests, but a few hours later, on Sunday, one group attacked their opponents’ house, injuring six people.

They were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where two of them died during treatment, said police surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed.

The deceased were identified as Rehan Saman, 50, and Jalal Ashraf, 40.

The injured were identified as Mashrang Gul, 50, Noman Mashrang, 30, Mohammad Irshad, 24, and Watan Gul, 55.

The SHO said one of the attackers, Wasif Gul, was arrested and two pistols were recovered from his custody.

Robber gang busted

The police on Sunday claimed to have busted an eight-member gang of robbers in the Taimuria area.

Speaking at a press conference, Central SSP Dr Mohammed Imran Khan said that eight suspects had been arrested on charges of involvement in street crimes.

They were identified as Mansoor Ahmed, his son Fahad, Mohammed Ubaid, Muzamil Ali, Mohammed Irfan, Noman Noor, Imran Ali and Mohammed Zubair.

Six TT pistols, two fake pistols, three motorcycles, 17 snatched mobile phones, 13 CNICs, eight wristwatches and four bags were recovered from their custody.
