KARACHI: A woman and her two teenage sons were found dead in their Naval Colony home on Sunday, police said.

They said a relative of the deceased persons informed the police about the bodies lying inside their home within the remit of the Saeedabad police station.

A police team reached the scene and shifted the bodies to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medico-legal formalities.

The victims were identified as 35-year-old Samiya Mehboob Ahmed, and her two sons, Shehroz, 14, and Abdullah, 13.

The victims originally hailed from Bahawalpur.

Police surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed said each victim sustained a single bullet wound to the face.

South DIG Syed Asad Raza told Dawn that investigators believed Samiya’s former husband, Shaukat, was the prime suspect. He said the couple had separated around two years ago and since then their relations had been tense.

Saeedabad SHO Pervez Solangi said the police were investigating the case to find the suspect and ascertain the exact motive for the murders.

Mechanic shot dead

A mechanic was shot dead and another person wounded when assailants opened fire at his shop in the Saeedabad area on Sunday.

Police said four armed men riding two motorbikes emerged at the shop in Gulshan-i-Mazdoor and opened indiscriminate firing, resulting in injuries to two persons.

They were taken to the CHK, where Maisam, 25, died during treatment while Abdul Majeed, 25, admitted for treatment.

The area SHO Solangi said the murder appeared to be an outcome of some personal enmity.
