LAHORE: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has asked Lahore police to arrest, at the earliest, a robbery suspect who snatched a cell phone from a girl riding a scooty in Nawab Town and injured her when she put up resistance.

A video clip which surfaced on the social media on Friday showed the suspect dragging her on the road and fled the scene with her mobile phone.

The girl, 17, suffered multiple bruises and injuries to her legs and arms. She was driving the scooty outside her home when the unidentified man snatched her cell.

The police registered a case against the suspect on the complaint of the injured girl’s father Mohammad Saqib who told the police that her daughter had suffered multiple deep injuries in the street robbery.

The DIG operations formed multiple teams, assigning them tasks to examine the Safe City cameras and use all other options to trace the suspected robber.

The CM said the robbery “involving a daughter is extremely painful and regrettable. Daughters and sisters are a red line, and we will uphold the commitment to their protection at all costs.”
