TOBA TEK SINGH: Fifteen buffaloes worth millions of rupees were electrocuted when live electricity wires crossing over a minor canal fell into it at Adda Fazil near Bucheki in Nankana Sahib district on Friday.

Dairy farm owner Rai Muhammad Akram said his buffaloes were taking bath in the canal when low intensity lines crossing over the canal snapped and fell into the canal. As a result, his 15 buffaloes received electric shocks and were electrocuted.

He seeks compensation from the government and Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) for his loss.

In another similar incident, 30 acres of wheat crop was reduced to ashes as a result of fire which broke out due to fall of high intensity electricity transmission lines on the fields at Baseedhpur village near Mor Khanda in Nankana Sahib district.

The affected farmers, Rai Bilal Ashraf, Haji Muhammad Anwar Bhutta, Munir Ahmad Suleman, and their families staged a protest against Lesco.

They termed the electric company responsible for their loss and demanded compensation from it. DSP Rai Ayub Sahi reached the site of the protest and convinced them to end it.
