LAHORE: The Punjab Health Department has sought explanations from nine teaching hospitals across the province over non-implementation of the Annual Compulsory Procurement Calendar (APC) and violations of financial discipline during the financial year 2025-26.
According to official sources, the hospitals issued notices included Services Hospital Lahore, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital Lahore, Mayo Hospital Lahore, DHQ Teaching Hospital Narowal, Benazir Bhutto Hospital Rawalpindi, Children Hospital Faisalabad, Holy Family Hospital Rawalpindi, Pak Atelier Burn Center Multan, and Rawalpindi Teaching Hospital.
During a review of the implementation of the APC and expenditures related to the procurement of medicines and disposables, it was revealed that these institutions failed to comply with the departments directives.
The report highlighted that 57 per cent of procurement expenditures were made through local purchase (LP), which was a serious violation of established policy and financial discipline.
