SWABI: Nineteen policemen including a station house officer (SHO) and two sub-inspectors were suspended for violating rules here on Tuesday.

According to police officials the suspended cops had violated duty rules. The cops’ suspension comes at a time when the police was busy in making foolproof arrangements to provide security to polio teams.

An official requesting anonymity said the district police officer had the record of the suspended policemen, adding that ‘sheer negligence’ had led to their suspension.

The suspension order said the police officers/officials were hereby placed under suspension under Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Rules 1975 and restricted to the police lines with immediate effect.

It was not written in the suspension order what was the cause of the suspension. However, it was learnt that charge-sheets would be issued separately.

The suspended cops included one SHO, two assistant sub-Inspectors, one head constable, seven lower head constables and eight constables.
