LAHORE: An assistant director of the Employees Old-Age Benefits Institution has been suspended following the removal of the deputy director-general (B&C-II) reportedly on corruption charges.

An office order issued by the EOBI chairman’s secretariat in Karachi states that the services of Assistant Director Muhammad Ali Qazi, working at regional office, Lahore South, are being immediately suspended following a complaint.

The nature of the complaint has not been explained, however, a fact-finding inquiry has been ordered against the officer.

The changes come following the arrest of Sher Ali, executive officer at the EOBI’s Garden Town branch, by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) a week ago while accepting bribe from a complainant for the redressal of a lawful plaint.
