CHINIOT: Two women were arrested for allegedly stealing UPS batteries and fans from Maryam Nawaz Clinic at Chak 157 JB Wagh, Tehsil Bhowana.

Kot Wasawa police arrested suspects Zeba and Sheena while they were fleeing on a rickshaw after stealing a ceiling fan, two bracket fans and two batteries of UPS from Maryam Nawaz Health Clinic.

Security guard Usman Haider stated that he went to a shop for buying some grocery items and when he returned to hospital, he saw the women loading something on a rickshaw. He tried to stop them but they drove the rickshaw towards Adlana village. He chased the rickshaw and with the help of villagers Babar Khan and Shabbir stopped them and called Rescue 15 police.

The women along with rickshaw driver were detained at Kot Wsawa police lock-up after registration of a case against them under sections 457, 380 and 411 of Pakistan Penal Code.

LAND RETRIEVED: Assistant Commissioner Chiniot Ashfaq Rasool, assisted by revenue officers, girdawars, patwaris and Pera force have retrieved a total of 1,700 kanals of land from various Mauza Jaats in revenue limits of Tehsil Chiniot during the last one month.

The land valued approximately Rs1 billion according to the prevailing market and and DC rates.

The AC told Dawn that the land would now be leased out to landless tenants of these villages under a transparent and open bidding process. The lease would give an opportunity of employment to landless tenants and villagers.

Meanwhile, Lalian AC Dr. Anas Saeed along with revenue officer Ghulam Abbas Tariq retrieved 97 kanals of land at village Shareen Awan from illegal occupants with the assistance of Pera force. The illegal structures were razed while the standing crops were confiscated.
