LAHORE: The King Edward Medical University has taken a disciplinary action against two trainee doctors over a video scandal at the Lady Willingdon Hospital, following the recommendations of an inquiry committee.

Dr Aqsa Khan, an FCPS trainee, has been repatriated from Lady Willingdon Hospital to the Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department with immediate effect.

Dr Nadia Saleem, an MS trainee, has been transferred from Lady Willingdon Hospital to Lady Aitchison Hospital.

The action was taken on the recommendations of an inquiry committee constituted under the chairmanship of the university’s dean.

According to official details, the committee comprised Prof Muhammad Imran, Dean Medicine and Allied and Professor of Medicine at King Edward Medical University; Prof Ali Madih Hashmi, Chairman of the Department of Psychology; Prof Saima Iqbal of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology; and Prof Samia Saeed, Professor of Medicine.

The committee examined the circumstances surrounding the video scandal and submitted its findings, upon which the administration initiated disciplinary proceedings against the two trainees.

Earlier, the Department of Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education has intimated to the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC) and the College of Physicians Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) that the Level-III training programmes of the five PGRs have been terminated under Clause 13.2 of the Policy and Procedure Manual (PPM).
