LAHORE: A ninth class schoolgirl got multiple burns when a young man threw acid on her in Chuhng area on Thursday.

The girl was rushed to a local hospital where the doctors said that she had severe and deep burns on her face, head and shoulders.

Her hands also got minor burns when she tried to hide her face.

According to initial police reports, she was going back to her home from her academy when an unknown assailant attacked her with acid.

The man later fled the scene and the police reached the site on being alerted.

A police official said that apparently it seems that the suspect was familiar with the girl or her family and linked the acid attack to her engagement with someone else.

The police teams were trying to track down the suspect with the help of Safe City cameras.
